Sharpen communication skills, boost confidence in professional settings and provide a creative outlet that encourages stress relief and personal growth
Staff Report
Pharr, TX - Pharr Community Theater will offer a new series of acting workshops for children, teens and adults in March, providing structured instruction designed to build confidence, communication skills and creative expression through theater.
The workshops are open to three age groups — children ages 9-12, teens ages 13-17 and adults 18 and older — with each class limited to the first 10 students who enroll. All sessions will be taught by a professional from Pharr Community Theater and include all materials.
Workshop schedule
The children’s workshop will run March 2-25, meeting Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m., for a total of 12 hours of instruction. The teen workshop is scheduled for March 3-26 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m., also totaling 12 instructional hours. Adult workshops will be held Saturdays from March 7-28, from 2 to 4 p.m., for eight hours of instruction.
The cost is $135 per student.
Benefits beyond the stage
Theater organizers say acting classes offer benefits that extend beyond the stage. For younger students, theater training can help build self-confidence, improve reading comprehension and strengthen social skills by encouraging teamwork, listening and empathy. Teens often benefit from public speaking practice, emotional awareness and creative problem-solving, skills that can support academic success and leadership development.
For adults, acting workshops can sharpen communication skills, boost confidence in professional settings and provide a creative outlet that encourages stress relief and personal growth. Theater instruction often emphasizes adaptability, collaboration and presence — traits that translate to careers ranging from education and business to public service.
Learn new techniques
Participants will learn foundational acting techniques, character development and stage awareness while working in a supportive, small-group environment, according to organizers. Limiting class sizes allows for individualized instruction and direct feedback.
Registration and additional details are available at pharrcommunitytheater.com or through Eventbrite. Separate registration links are provided for the kids, teens and adult workshops.
