WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz announced the appointment of Edinburg native Cassy Garcia as the senator’s state director.
Garcia, born in Edinburg, Texas, has nearly two decades of experience in public service and government relations at the local, state and federal levels.
She began her career as a regional field representative for the Texas agriculture commissioner and later served as Cruz’s South Texas regional director and deputy state director. Her career experience also includes working as deputy state director for Cruz. She most recently served as Cruz’s acting state director.
Garcia earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg.
“I am proud to announce Cassy Garcia as my new State Director,” Cruz said.
Garcia said it is an honor to lead Cruz’s Texas team.
“This new role carries a deep responsibility to serve the 31 million Texans who count on our work every day,” Garcia said.
