McAllen TX - Fiesta de Palmas will return to the McAllen Convention Center Oct. 16-18, featuring an expanded carnival, live music, and cultural programming, according to organizers.
The event will be held at 700 Convention Center Blvd. Friday, Oct. 16, will run from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. with free admission. Saturday, Oct. 17, will run from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., with $10 admission after 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, will run from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., with $10 admission after 4 p.m.
Beer Around the World, presented by L&F Distributors, will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $50 and include 10 drink tickets and sampling opportunities from 10 restaurants. Proceeds will benefit Hope Family Health Center, a nonprofit providing medical, counseling and wellness services to uninsured and medically underserved individuals and families in the Rio Grande Valley.
The festival will include an expanded carnival with more than 30 rides, food vendors and games; the H-E-B Helping Here Pumpkin Patch, with proceeds benefiting the McAllen Senior Living Program; a Día de los Muertos community altar; a fall-themed harvest walk; live music and community stages; a mariachi competition on Friday, Oct. 16; a costume contest Saturday; an EduFiesta STEAM exhibit presented by McAllen International Airport; an artisan mercado; a food park; lotería; a fireworks display; laser tag and arcade games; an outdoor go-kart track; and karaoke.
Musical performances will include La Santa Cecilia, a Los Angeles-based band led by vocalist Marisol “La Marisoul” Hernández that won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album in 2014 for its album “Treinta Días,” and Y La Bamba, an indie-folk project led by Mexican-American artist Luz Elena Mendoza.
The event is sponsored by McAllen International Airport, L&F Distributors, Pepsi, Reliant, H-E-B Helping Here, Oscar Health Insurance and the Law Office of Javier Villarreal.
