Hidalgo County WIC, Mission, online benefit issuance, Mission I WIC Clinic, Clarissa Ramirez, nutrition, breastfeeding, healthcare
Staff Report
MISSION TX - The Hidalgo County WIC Program will launch a new online benefit issuance service on July 1, 2026, allowing participants to complete many services remotely. On the same date, the Mission I WIC Clinic at 211 S. Schuerbach Rd. will permanently close due to the age and condition of the building.
“This transition reflects our commitment to serving families in the most efficient and convenient way possible,” said Clarissa Ramirez, WIC Director. “Families will continue to receive the same high-quality nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy food benefits, and healthcare referrals through our other WIC locations and our new online services. We are working closely with every participant to ensure this transition is seamless and that there is no interruption in the care and support they rely on.”
The majority of active client records will automatically transfer to the Mission II WIC Clinic at 722 N. Breyfogle, Suite 2-C, Mission, unless a participant requests a different location. The Mission II clinic can be reached at (956) 584-3334.
The program has been notifying active participants of the closure through text messages and phone calls. WIC participants may receive services at any Texas WIC clinic of their choosing. To locate the nearest clinic, visit TexasWIC.org or call 1-800-889-5595.
