MCALLEN TX - The City of McAllen recorded its lowest crime levels in 40 years in 2025, with crime volume declining 20.4% and the crime rate dropping 21.4% compared to 2024, according to newly released data from the Texas Department of Public Safety Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
The data also shows that McAllen has reduced crime approximately 81.4% from its crime high in 1995.
Crime Rate
McAllen’s Crime Rate decreased 21.4% during 2025 when compared to McAllen’s 2024 Crime Rate.
Crime Volume
McAllen’s Crime Volume, the actual number of cases, decreased 20.4% during 2025 when compared to McAllen’s 2024 Crime Volume.

“Our community is a construct of persons who live, work, visit and strive to keep McAllen thriving by preventing crime, promoting public safety and participating in the investigation of crime when it does occur. Their collective efforts have produced these crime reductions.”
