McAllen TX - The McAllen Fire Department will host a remembrance ceremony Friday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m., marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The ceremony will be held at McAllen Central Fire Station, 201 N. 21st St., and will honor the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and those who responded that day, according to the department.
Mayor Javier Villalobos, the McAllen City Commission, city leadership, Fire Chief Juan A. Gloria and fire department staff are expected to attend. Keynote speakers will include McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez and Lone Star EMS Regional District Chief Ernesto Hernandez.
The department said the annual ceremony is intended to ensure the stories of that day are not forgotten, offering the community an opportunity to pause and reflect on the courage of those who responded and the lives that were forever changed.
