McAllen Hosts Annual Day of Caring to Support Families During Holidays
A community-wide effort to support families during the holiday season

The City of McAllen will hold its annual McAllen Day of Caring on Friday, Dec. 19, bringing together city officials, public safety personnel and community partners to provide holiday groceries to local families in need.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the McAllen Police Department, 1601 N. Bicentennial Blvd. More than 50 families are expected to receive Christmas grocery assistance as part of the initiative.
City officials said the effort is a partnership between the City of McAllen, H-E-B and the McAllen Police Department. Participants will include Mayor Javier Villalobos, members of the City Commission, City Manager Isaac “Ike” J. Tawil, police officers and representatives from various city departments, along with H-E-B representatives and other partnering agencies.
The Day of Caring is designed to support families facing financial hardship during the holiday season by providing essential food items.
Media representatives are invited to attend the event, which will also include a planned appearance by Santa Claus to distribute gifts to participating families.
