McAllen, TX - McAllen International Airport partnered with Make-A-Wish Rio Grande Valley to host a special sendoff for three children and their families traveling to fulfill wish vacations.
The event, held Feb. 26 at the airport, recognized 7-year-old Richard, 5-year-old Elena and 7-year-old Anahi, who departed on a nonstop flight to Orlando, Florida. Each child traveled with family members as part of their wish experience.
Wish Day celebration
Airport staff and volunteers welcomed the families with cookies, a face-painting station and gift bags prior to departure. The event was supported by Lone Star National Bank and East Ocean.
Rebecca Gearhart, chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish Rio Grande Valley, said the organization was grateful to the airport and sponsors for helping create a memorable experience for the families. She said wishes help restore hope and bring joy during difficult journeys.
Community partnership
Jeremy Santoscoy, P.E., director of aviation for the City of McAllen, said the airport is proud to support organizations that serve families in the community. He said the airport serves as a place where meaningful journeys begin.
The partnership marked a coordinated effort between McAllen International Airport and Make-A-Wish Rio Grande Valley to provide a celebratory departure for the children and their families.
