McAllen, TX - The McAllen Public Library will host a public health presentation on mosquito-borne diseases as part of its Community Health Education Series on March 20. The program is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Main Library, located at 4001 N. 23rd St.
Program overview
The session will focus on mosquitoes and the diseases they can transmit. Staff members from the Hidalgo County Health Department will provide information about how mosquito-borne illnesses spread and discuss common symptoms associated with those diseases.
Officials said the presentation will also include practical strategies residents can use to reduce mosquito exposure and protect themselves from bites.
Health education series
The program is part of a four-part Community Health Education Series organized in partnership with the Hidalgo County Health Department. The series is designed to provide residents with key public health information and strategies that support community well-being.
Previous topics in the series have included respiratory illnesses and vaccines across the lifespan.
Location and participation
The March 20 presentation will take place in Meeting Room AB at the McAllen Public Library Main Library. Library officials said the sessions are intended to provide accessible health information for community members.
The final program in the series will address hurricane preparedness and is scheduled for May 16 at 10 a.m.
