McAllen, TX - The South Texas Book Festival will host a Family Poetry Workshop on April 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at the McAllen Public Library Main Library, 4001 N. 23rd St.
The event will feature live poetry readings, hands-on workshops and interactive activity stations for children, teens and adults, according to the announcement.
Program details
Featured poets include Amanda Puryear El, Paola Carrasco, Veronica Isabel Gutierrez and Emmy Perez. Teens will have the opportunity to explore rap as poetry during a session led by Amanda Puryear El, while children can learn poetry recitation techniques with Veronica Isabel Gutierrez.
Participants will also be invited to contribute to a community poem activity led by Emmy Perez.
Event activities
Organizers said the event is designed as an all-ages program focused on creative expression through poetry. Book signings and refreshments will be available during the event.
