McAllen, TX - McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos will deliver the 2026 State of the City Address on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the McAllen Convention Center, with city officials confirming the in-person event is sold out and will be available to the public through multiple livestream platforms.
Event details and participants
Doors will open at 11 a.m., with the program scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Blvd. The address will feature Mayor Villalobos, the McAllen City Commission, City Manager Isaac J. Tawil and city leadership. The program will be moderated by Communications Director Irma Chapa.
Focus of the address
According to city officials, the State of the City Address will provide a comprehensive update on McAllen’s progress, priorities and vision for the year ahead. Planned highlights include major infrastructure and quality-of-life projects completed in 2025, updates on economic development initiatives and strategic partnerships, announcements related to new programs and future projects, and recognition of organizations contributing to the city’s growth.
Funding and sponsorship
City officials said the 2026 State of the City Address is funded entirely through private sponsorships, with no taxpayer funds used. Sponsorships are provided at the Diamond, Titanium, Platinum and Gold levels, covering all event-related costs and supporting related philanthropic efforts.
Diamond-level sponsors include Bert Ogden Buick-GMC, CIL Capital, Linebarger Attorneys at Law, Lone Star National Bank, McAllen Hidalgo/Anzalduas International Bridges, McAllen Public Utility, Ruby Red Hospitality, Texas A&M University and Zoho Corporation.
