Edinburg, TX - The Hidalgo County Health & Human Services Department announced that no-cost COVID-19 molecular testing at the Hidalgo County Public Health Laboratory will conclude Jan. 31, 2026.
Switch to low-cost testing
Beginning Feb. 1, the laboratory will transition to offering low-cost testing services, including COVID-19 testing, flu and strep tests, diabetes screenings and other laboratory services. Officials said fees will vary depending on the type of test.
County officials advised employees and members of the public seeking pricing information or appointments to contact the laboratory directly.
