McAllen TX - Quinta Mazatlán will host “Hummingbirds of the RGV” with Urban Ecologist John Brush on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., as part of its Thursday Night Live series.
Hummingbirds are predominantly nectar-feeding birds that use their needle-like bills to reach hidden nectar, according to organizers. Research has shown hummingbird tongues also use a mechanism called “fluid trapping” that complements capillary action, and the birds are known to eat small insects and spiders in addition to nectar.
The event is free with general admission.
Quinta Mazatlán is located at 600 Sunset Dr.
