Mercedes TX - South Texas Independent School District will launch a free Supper Program on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, offering meals to children 18 and younger and to students with disabilities who are enrolled in a program for individuals with disabilities up to age 21.
The program will operate Monday through Thursday from 4 to 4:30 p.m. at six campuses across the Rio Grande Valley. Children do not need to be enrolled at STISD to participate.
“We are proud to offer this nutritious meal program to children in our community,” Superintendent Dr. Sandra Garza Ochoa said. “This is part of our ongoing commitment to support the well-being of our students and the families we serve.”
Meal Sites
Meals will be served at the following locations:
Science Academy of South Texas, 100 Med High Drive, Mercedes
South Texas Business, Education & Technology Academy, 100 Med High Drive, Mercedes
South Texas Early College High School, 100 Med High Drive, Mercedes
South Texas High School for Health Professions, 100 Med High Drive, Mercedes
Neuhaus Education Center, 2300 Freddy Gonzalez Drive, Edinburg
South Texas ISD Rural Health Clinic, located at 3401 N. Ed Carey Drive, Harlingen (Olmito campus area), and 301 N. Travis St., San Benito
Funding
The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
