Tish Hinojosa Brings Decades of Folk and Border Music to McAllen’s Concert in the Park

McAllen, TX - Singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa will perform at Quinta Mazatlán on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. as part of the city’s Concert in the Park series.
Hinojosa is a veteran Mexican-American artist known for blending folk, country, Tejano and traditional Mexican music, with songs in both English and Spanish that reflect her cultural heritage. Born Leticia “Tish” Hinojosa in San Antonio, she is the youngest of thirteen children of Mexican immigrant parents and began singing and playing guitar in her teens. Her musical style draws from the diverse sounds she grew up with on the U.S.–Mexico border and has earned her a following across genres and generations.
She launched her recording career in the 1980s and gained wider attention in the 1990s with critically acclaimed albums such as Homeland and Culture Swing, the latter of which was named Indie Folk Album of the Year by the National Association of Independent Record Distributors. Hinojosa’s work has included collaborations with well-known musicians and performances on national stages, and she has released more than a dozen albums over four decades.
