McAllen News, Edinburg TX News, Ware Rd closure
Staff Report
McAllen, TX - A portion of FM 2220, also known as Ware Road, will be closed to through traffic later this month to allow for underground pipe installation near the Tres Lagos community, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, and will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3. The affected segment extends from Russell Road to FM 1925, also known as Monte Cristo Road.
Access and detours
While through traffic will be restricted, Ware Road will remain accessible to local traffic traveling to and from the Tres Lagos community during the closure period.
TxDOT officials said motorists should use north Shary Road or Rooth Road as alternate routes to avoid the construction area.
Project information
The temporary closure is required to safely complete underground pipe installation. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted detour signs and allow extra travel time.
